Sharnbrook Neighbourhood Watch

Registered Charity No. 1062009/0

    Neighbourhood Watch Objectives

  1. To reduce the opportunities for crime
  2. To reduce the fear of crime
  3. To promote community safety
  4. To improve the quality of life
  5. To foster community spirit
Organisation

Operating since 1991, most roads in the Village are adopted. There are 19 Road Co-ordinators/Deputies who have meetings every quarter, often attended by our Police Beat Manager PC 428 Rob Smith. We are supported by the Parish Council. We are part of Bedford and District Neighbourhood Watch Association.

Advantages

- Road Co-ordinators in each adopted Road or Group to contact for advice, news or queries
- Discounts with some insurance companies on Neighbourhood Watch properties
- Crime alerts provided on the telephone Ringmaster system to households who register for them
- Advice and information on property security provided
- Current Area Co-ordinator will turn out in an emergency, day or night

Being part of Neighbourhood Watch means being more aware of what is happening locally and being able to be more part of the community. We know our area better than the Police ever can and we spot things that they may not recognise. The Police state that crime is less in areas with active Neighbourhood Watches – and we are probably the most active in North Bedfordshire.

Sharnbrook Villagers

Is your Road adopted? If you do not know, ring our office on Bedford 275165. If you are in Neighbourhood Watch, are you showing a window sticker? Did it go with the old windows? Why not get replacements via your Road Co-ordinator. Crime and vandalism occur in the village - the Police badly want EVIDENCE. Reports of vandalism etc are VALUABLE, whether or not the criminal responsible can be caught immediately. Tell the Police and Neighbourhood Watch.
