Volunteer Drivers Needed
Typically, drivers commit to two half days per month (mostly mornings), and schedules are agreed approximately three months in advance. Driving for the Villager can be fun, and it’s also very worthwhile. Most of our passengers are quite elderly and really appreciate that the Villager helps them to remain independent by enabling them to get to local supermarkets, and to visit friends, etc.
Drivers often report that passengers have thanked them for their help, and many drivers gain a real sense of satisfaction from driving the bus.
Driving for the Villager is also a good opportunity to meet other early retired people within the local area.
Driver Profile
We have both men and women drivers, typically early retired, and interested to put something back into their local community. Of course, you need to be a safe and steady driver, but it is also important that you really do like people, and can be a flexible team player.
- New drivers to have D1 Category on their licence (which is normally the case).
